US Drug Convict Escapes from Bali Jail

TEMPO.CO, Bali - Drug convict Christian Beasley, 32, a US citizen, escaped from the Kerobokan prison in Badung District, Bali Province, Monday.


Beasley`s disappearance came to light at around 4 a.m. local time on Monday, Tonny Nainggolan, head of the Kerobokan jail, noted.


Nainggolan suspects that Beasley escaped by scaling the eastern wall of the prison.


Beasley`s case is being tried in the Denpasar District Court. His last trial was held on Dec 4 to listen to a testimony by a customs and excise officer.


Beasley was arrested on August 1, 2017, after receiving a postal package from Canada containing hashish weighing 5.71 grams.


Christian Beasley was arrested by the Bali anti-narcotic office and the local customs and excise office.
