Victim Injured His Liver at Duel ala Gladiator

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A high school student, Hilarius Christian Event Raharjo, died in a gladiator-like duel. Based on the autopsy reports, the victim endured an internal injury caused by a hard blow from a blunt object to his abdomen.


“There was an internal wound, his liver was torn four centimeters with the width of 0.5 centimeters, which caused the bleeding in his abdomen,” said Commissioner Ahmad Choirudin, Head of Bogor Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit on Thursday, September 21.


Although Ahmad cannot confirm yet whether the injury had caused Hilarius to lose his life. Investigators are still waiting for the complete autopsy report from the West Java Police forensic team.


Authorities are investigating the motive behind the fight done with gladiator's duel data-style which involved students from two high schools, SMA Budi Mulia and SMA Mardi Yuana. Both schools commonly referred to the duel as ‘bom-boman’.


The illegal student’s violent tradition is said to have been going on for four years and had only stopped following the death of Hilarius. Police have yet to uncover the real motive behind the violent tradition.


Police are currently questioning four suspects that already in custody. One of the suspects, “B” was arrested in Yogyakarta on Wednesday, he was expelled from SMA Mardi Yuana right after the death of Hilarius. Based on the police investigation, “B” was the student that was appointed to fight with Hilarius.


Two other suspects, “H” and “T”, were arrested in two separate locations. “H”, arrested in Bandung, is strongly considered to have forced “B” to fight with Hilarius. Meanwhile, suspect “T” was the person who forced Hilarius to fight at the gladiator-like duel.
