French Vessel Officially Sails From Tanjung Priok To L.A.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - French shipping company CMA-CGM, has officially opened a direct shipping line from Jakarta, Indonesia, to Los Angeles, United States. The inaugural sailing of the new shipping line is held on Monday, April 24, 2017.


The inaugural sailing will conducted by CMA-CGM Otello shipping vessel, which arrived in Tanjung Priok Port on Sunday, April 23, 2017. The arrival of the vessel was officially welcomed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II and the Indonesian State Officials at Jakarta Terminal Container International (JICT).


The welcoming ceremony was held by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi and was attended by 350 guests. The Otello, with its total capacity of 8,238-TEU (Twenty-foot equivalent unit) will be serving the Java SEA Express (JAX) and the Pendulum Loop I (PEI) shipping line.


CMA-CGM Otello is one of 17 container ships that will cater to JAX and PEI's weekly services. This route is promised to have the shortest amount of travel time with only 23 days of sailing from Jakarta to Los Angeles.
