Jokowi, Foreign Ambassadors Prepare for National Press Day 2017

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and a number of ambassadors from neighboring countries and representatives of international organizations is scheduled to attend the 2017 National Press Day (HPN 2017) scheduled to be held at in Ambon on February 9, 2017.


According to a member of the HPN 2017 central committee, currently there are six ambassadors who have confirmed their attendance, namely from Vietnam, Russia, Philippines, Slovakia, Pakistan, and North Korea.


It is predicted that more than 10 ambassadors will be present in the event. Representatives from three international organizations: UNESCO, WHO, and UNDP, will also be present in the event.


A number of foreign journalist associations have also been invited to join their Indonesian counterparts, including the Confederation of ASEAN Journalist (CAJ), the All China Journalist Association (ACJA), the Jakarta Foreign Correspondent Club (JFCC).


"There are 21 foreign Ambassadors that [confirmed their presence] up until this afternoon," says Bobby Kin Palapia, Head of Maluku Public Relations and Protocol office. He Bobby also stated that there will be a number of supporting events held during the HPN 2017 celebration event.


"The event's main goal is to raise Maluku's image domestically and internationally," Bobby said.
