489 Police Personnel Secure Jessica Sentencing Hearing

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 489 police personnel have been deployed to secure sentencing hearing of Wayan Mirna Salihin’s murder at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday, October 27, 2016.


“We have deployed 489 personnel to secure the Central Jakarta District Court starting from 9 am,” said Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Bureau chief Sr. Comr. Awi Setiyono via text messages on Thursday, October 27.


The panel of judges of Central Jakarta District Court is slated to read out Jessica Kumala Wongso’s sentencing. Jessica is the defendant of Wayan Mirna Salihin’s murder case. The public prosecutors seek 20-year sentence for Jessica.


Mirna died after consuming a Vietnamese iced coffee at the Olivier’s Cafe. Police had found cyanide in the coffee. Moreover, a sample taken from Mirna’s stomach reveals that she suffered wound due to cyanide.


Jessica and his defense lawyer team have read out her defense and rejoinder. Jessica has denied murdering Mirna.
