TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s badminton men’s double pair Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon clinched the 2016 Australian Open Title, their second Superseries title this year besides the Indian Open title they won earlier this year.
Kevin/Marcus won the title after beating their teammates Angga Pratama/Ricky Karanda Suwardi in two straight games 21-14, 21-15 in the Final on Sunday.
"We played very well and enjoyed the games. At the same time both Angga and Ricky looked nervous. So we capitalized on that,” Marcus said after the match.
Marcus added that after becoming champion at the Superseries level, he is now more confident to move forward.
He also hopes that he and Kevin can also become champions at the Superseries Premier level.
In the meantime, both Angga and Ricky admitted that Marcus and Kevin played better during the match and hoped they can be better in the next tournaments.
"We’ve done our best but they are better than us. We have to train harder. So many things have to be improved,” Ricky said.
