TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sidoarjo Police Precinct, East Java, have arrested one of the perpetrators in the rape of a 14-year-old girl, with the initial NR, from Trompo Asri Village, Jabon Sub-District, on Tuesday.

Sidoarjo Police Precinct Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. M. Anwar Nasir has confirmed the arrest to Tempo. Anwar, however, declined to name the offender.

He only said that the offender was arrested in Malang. “Our personnel are currently questioning the offender. For further information, we will soon release it to the media,” he said.

Sidoarjo Police Precinct have declared on Monday that two perpetrators are on the run. They are the victim’s neighbours, Udin, 21-year-old, and Sokeh, 45-year old. Whereas three elementary school students, who according to the victim had also raped her, have yet to be questioned. “After questioning the witnesses, only those two are the alleged [rapist],” he said.

NR, currently 8 months pregnant, was raped by five people between Juli and September 2015. Before making a report to Sidoarjo Police Precinct, the family of the victim had reported it to village authorities. Compensation was agreed in a mediation, but never materialized.

The family had finally reported it to Sidoarjo Police Precinct late December 2015. The report was not followed up by the police. The case has resurfaced after Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa visited the victim at her house on Sunday.
