TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian mixed double badminton players Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto went through to the second round of Badminton Asian Championships 2016 after dispatching Hong Kong’s mixed double team in the first round.

“They and their opponents were evenly balanced up to the 11th points. After that, they looked more comfortable,” said mixed double coach of Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) training camp, Nova Widianto, as quoted by Antara news agency in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Praveen/Debby has progressed to the second round wrapping up 21-9, 21-14 thriump against Hong Kong’s Chan Alan Yun Lung/Tse Ying Suet in 28 minutes in the first round. Despite the easy victory, Nova added, the first round match was used by Praveen/Debby to make adjustments to Wuhan badminton court, China.

Debby admitted that she is still adapting to the bright lighting of the badminton court, PBSI official website reported. “We continue to make adjustments and enjoy the game to give it all we’ve got,” Debby said.

In the second round to be held today, Praveen/Debby are set to face South Korea’s double, Kim Gi Jung/Shin Seung Chan. Praveen/Debby recorded a win against Kim/Shin in International Badminton Championship in India in January with 21-18, 21-14 victory.

If they get past the second round, Praveen/Debby could face the tournament’s no.1 seed, China’s Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei. “Yes, we expect to face Zang/Zhao again in the quarter-final round,” Nova said.
