TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi welcomes the Transjakarta's plan to expand its routes to Bekasi. “It could facilitate the mobility of the Bekasi residents to Jakarta and its surroundings,” Rachmat said in Bekasi on Sunday, April 24, 2016.
Rahmat said he has acknowledged the plan from the media and through personal chat with Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahajan Purnama. “However, our conversation did not discuss the technical implementation [of the Transjakarta's route expansion project] on the field,” he said.
The Mayor urged the need of the related parties to negotiate the issue beforehand considering it has yet to be done until today. “We have yet received an official notice,” he admitted.
Rahmat said he was ready to support the expansion program as long as the preparation process was well-planned.
To date, Bekasi Transportation Agency is still trying to coordinate with the Jakarta Provincial Government following the expansion of Transjakarta's route to Bekasi.
