TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s top men’s double shuttlers Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan clinched their first title this year after winning the 2016 Thailand Master Grand Pix Gold held in Bangkok on Saturday.

The reigning world champion won the title after beating South Korean pair Kim Gi Jung/Kim Sa Rang 12-21, 21-15, 21-12 in 43 minutes.

"We are grateful we can begin this year with a good start and win the title there. We are quite satisfied with our performance today,” Ahsan said after winning the title.

This is Ahsan/Hendra’s 6th win over the South Korean pair, while the South Korean has beaten Ahsan/Hendra twice in their previous meetings.

Hendra/Ahsan was the sole Indonesian representatives at the Final after mixed double pair Irfan Fadhilah/Weni Anggraini and woman single Dinar Dyah Ayustine tumbled in the quarter final.
