TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has stated firmly that it will not intervene in the development of Jakarta-Bandung bullet train. The train is not listed in the government development priority.
"It does have a benefit. However, the government refuses to invest on it," said the National Development Planning Minister Sofyan Djalil on FridaySeptember 25. Therefore, the government leaves it to the SOE Ministry to continue with the project, given its business scheme.
Sofyan added that the government refuses to prioritize and fund the project is because the transportation access from Jakarta to Bandung is already good. Therefore, the government claimed that no idea of realizing bullet train has ever been conceived.
"If private (sector) wants to take it, be my guest. It’s business to business," he said.
