TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Christopher Daniel Sjarif, driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander at Pondok Indah South Jakarta who crashes into motorcyclist, has been convicted to two years and six months of prison. The verdict was announced by prosecutor Agus Kurniawan in the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, August 5, 2015.

"Considering the actions done by Christopher, we demand that the defendant to be imprisoned for two years and six months," said prosecutor Agus Kurniawan.

Christopher is charged for violating Article 310 and Article 311 (4) and (5) of Law No.22/2011 on Road Transport Traffic.

The regulation states that the maximum penalty that can be imposed to the defendant is five years of imprisonment. However, the prosecutor has considered other aspects and decided to push for two years and six months.

Christopher has been very cooperative. For example, Christopher admitted his actions and behaved in a good manner during trials. Another reason is that Christopher has apologized to the victims and has directly given compensation to the families.

In addition to the sentence, Christopher should also pay a fine of Rp 10 million. The vehicle (Outlander) along with its registration and Christopher's driver's license, as well as the vehicles of the victims, has been returned to their rightful owners.
