TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of criminality in Tanah Abang Market did not experience any increase compared to last year. However, the carelessness of visitors did not experience in a slump either.

“In a day, there are two to three reports of a child being separated from their families,” Yuli, 22-year-old information officer at Block A, said Sunday, July 5.

Luckily, each separated child could be reunited with their families. According to Yuli, the number is not so different from the previous years, whereas she has routinely reminded visitors to increase the supervision towards their children when shopping.

In the last week, a report has been made every day. Usually those children were spotted by officials or store clerk.

Missing wallets are also frequently reported. “About 3 to 4 reports were made on missing wallets,” said Yuli. Other items that are often reported missing are cell phones, vehicle keys and groceries.

In the last week, the number of visitors to Tanah Abang fashion market is up by 10 times compared to the regular days. The place closes at 4pm, but still crowded by visitors before closing time.
