Uber Taxi Provides Business Model for the Future

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Suroto, a Supervisor of the Association of Socio-economic strategies (Aspek), said that Uber taxi service provider has the potential to become the business model of the future because corporate laws do not apply to it.

"An Uber taxi driver was recently arrested for not having a work license. The government should not only look at this problem from a licensing standpoint, it also needs to look at the empowerment and revenue equality for small businesses." Suroto said in Jakarta on Monday, June 29, 2015.

Suroto asserted that crowdsourcing, the type of business model utilized by Uber, allows a corporation to become a provider that ensures proper wages for all of its members.

Suroto reiterated that the government's focus on the licensing aspect of the Uber case highlights how it only supports taxi businesses executives that already have a huge chunk of the company's revenue.
