TEMPO.CO, Tasikmalaya - Tasikmalaya Resort Police, West Java, have detained four bookies during a transaction and selling coupons for illegal gambling on Tuesday, June 23. Police have seized a gambling recapitulation, mobile phone and Rp450,000 in cash.

“Four suspects were arrested in two locations. They are ‘Singapore’ and ‘Hong Kong’ bookies,” Tasikmalaya Resort Police Chief Adj.Sr.Comm Asep Saepudin said in Resort Police Headquarter on Tuesday.

According to Asep, a Singapore gambling means a gambling that is conducted during the daytime, meanwhile Hong Kong gambling is conducted at night.

A mobile phone is used to send a number to the winner. The bookies and the gambler communicates through a cellular phone.

The suspects are charged with Article 303 of the Book of Criminal Code. “With a threat of five years in jail,” said Asep.

The eradication of gambling is included in the Chief of National Police and West Java Police Chief’s 100-program, Asep said. The chief of national police demand that every kind of gambling is completely eradicated. “This is a follow-up order from the Chief,” he said.
