TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public prosecutor Arnold Siahaan demanded Uzoma Elele Alpha to be charged with capital punishment during a trial at the Depok District Court on Monday, June 15, 2015. The 33-year-old Nigerian citizen was caught in possession of seven kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 300 grams of marijuana.

Uzoma was charged with multiple violations, namely for violating Articles 114 (2) and Article 132 (1) of Law No.35/2009 on Drugs. "His actions do not support the government who has declared drug emergency," said Arnold.

Arnold said that three kilograms out of the total seven kilograms of crystal meth have been distributed. Uzoma was considered to have threatened the life of Indonesian youngsters because thousands of meth packages are ready to be circulated. "We demanded capital punishment," Arnold said.

Uzoma's attorney, Oloan Marpaung, explained that his client has requested for leniency for admitting his guilt.

Oloan said that the prosecutor's demand was appropriate considering the huge amount of narcotics found in Uzoma's possession. However, the prosecutor should take into consideration the fact that the suspect has admitted his guilt and promised not to commit the same crime ever again.
