BPS Records Higher Inflation in April 2015

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that there was a 0.36 percent increase in inflation rate on April 2015.
Out of 82 cities in Indonesia, BPS recorded that 72 cities were experiencing inflation while the remaining 10 were experiencing deflation. The highest inflation rate, according to BPS, were recorded in Tual, Maluku, with 1.31 percent, while the lowest inflation were recorded on Cilacap with 0.02 percent. "In Tual, rice prices were increasing whereas in other places it were decreasing," said Suryamin, the Head of BPS on Monday, May 4, 2015.
BPS explained that there were several factors that drive inflation rate up, including fuel price, shallot price, public transportation tariffs, household energy (LPGs), train tariffs, sugar price, and air transportation tariffs.
On the other hand, some of the factors that slows down the inflation includes rice price, and prices of fresh fish.
