TEMPO.CO, Makassar - Senior Commissioner Joko Hartanto from South and West Sulawesi Police confirmed that the Police have detained Abraham Samad. "[Samad] will be detained at a Police Detention Center," Joko said, claiming that the Police have considered several options before arresting the former Chief of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Samad currently faces a maximum of eight years imprisonment for an alleged document forgery case involving Feriyani Lim. The Police decided to detain Samad under the concern that he might escape, destroy evidence, or commit similar crime in the future.

Joko added that the Police is yet to arrest Feriyani Lim without providing further details. Joko said that Feriyani and Samad's case files will soon be delivered to the District Attorny Office of South and West Sulawesi Province.

Joko said that he believed that Samad is the prime suspect in the case, not Feriyani. However, the Police so far had failed to present strong evidence of Samad's involvement in the case. Investigators only managed to confiscate copies of the allegedly fake identification card registered under the name of Feriyani Lim.
