TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Immigration Office of Soekarno-Hatta Airport had just arrested a man with Chinese nationality who had allegedly falsified his citizenship documents. The 24-year-old man's name is Lin Chuan Hui and he has been living in Indonesia for seven years. Lin works as a commissioner of PT Putra Resource Indonesia which is located at Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta 127, Central Jakarta.
Samiudin, the Head of Traffic and Immigration Status of the Immigration Office of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, said that the false documents were discovered when Lin was trying to extend his passport on March 4. Lin's anxious behavior made the immigration officer suspicious. "His dialect is still very strong with Chinese language," he said.
According to Sutrisno, the Chief Immigration of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Lin had already an ID card and a family card issued by the Department of Population and Civil Registration in West Jakarta. While his birth certificate was issued by the Central Jakarta Sub-dept Office. "But after we checked it, it turns out that his name is not listed there," he said.
When Lin was asked to show his final diploma to the officer, Lin could not show it. The man was then eventually detained for further investigation. He was charged with Article 126 of Law No. 26 of 2011 on Immigration to five years imprisonment and a fine of Rp500 million.
"The file is complete and we have sent it to the Tangerang District Attorney," said Sutrisno.
