TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Religious Affairs Ministry's branch office in Dumai, Riau, have discovered six Umrah travel agencies suspected to be illegal. The agencies are suspected for operating and conducting business activities without a permit.

Zakaria, Head of the Hajj Organizer Division in Dumai, said on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, that his department will immediately send letters to the six travel bureaus, instructing them to comply with the licensing process and report to the government.

The Ministry's branch office will also coordinate with the police if the travel bureaus refuse to address their licensing violation.

"We advise these travel bureaus to immediately report and process their licensing documents so that the Umrah activities of moslem community will go smoothly and conducive without having fear of the [Islamic State of Iraw and Syria] threat," Zakaria said.

The Ministry's branch office had also issued warning to local residents to be aware of illegal travel bureaus offering Hajj Plus services after their customers agree to deposit a certain amount of money.
