TEMPO.CO, Amsterdam - A 19-year-old teenager was seen wielding a pistol and making his way into the studios of the national broadcaster NOS on Thursday, January 29, 2015. The teenager demanded to be allowed to go on air, before quickly arrested.

Witnesses said that the person was wearing a black suit and tie, entering the studio after threatening a security guard with a pistol. It was unclear how he passed through security, which has been tightened after the recent attack on Charlie Hebdo office in Paris.

Security footage showed the man pacing in the studio with a black firearm on his back. He had intended to speak to the country on the most popular evening news broadcast, but was instead led to an empty studio by a security guard.

According to Police Spokeswoman Christine Scholts, the young man took the security guard hostage and said he wanted to go on air. He also said that there had been bombs in different places in the Netherlands that would explode if he did not get on air in time.

"Realize that I am not on my own," the gunman said as quoted bo local media. "Furthermore, eight high explosives have been planted that contain radioactive material. If you don't take me to studio eight to make my broadcast, we will be forced to step into action," he added.
