Non-Uniformed Police to Keep City Safe from Street Crimes

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police has deployed non-uniformed officers during an operation, codenamed Operasi Cipta Kondisi 2014. Jakarta Police spokesperson Cr. Comr. Rikwanto said the non-uniformed officers are assigned to blend in with public at certain spots.
“For instance, [non-uniformed officers] are deployed at intersections and public transportations,” Rikwanto said on Saturday, December 20, 2014.
Such locations, Rikwanto said, are prone to street crimes. The operation is aimed to prevent street crimes and provide security for public.
Rikwanto explained that the Jakarta Police will conduct large-scale patrols and support personnel local precincts’ personnel. The operation is conducted until December 23, 2014, followed by a Candle Operation until January 2, 2014.
A total of 3,943 officers, in addition to hundreds of back up personnel from National Police and the Army, will be deployed to secure Christmas and New celebrations.
