TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Indonesia’s women’s double player Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda stumbled on the semifinal of 2014 Hong Kong Open Super Series in Hong Kong Coliseum on Saturday, November 22. The double was beaten by Ayaka Takahasi/Masaki Matsumoto of Japan 21-16, 21-15.
The Japanese succeeded in executing their vengeance after lost to the Indonesian in the 2014 Asian Games final. Greysia admitted that her defenses and attacks were not as good as when she was in Asian Games.
“Their defense was hard to crack. The attacks were also sharp,” said Greysia to Badminton Indonesia.
Battle went equally fierce for both sides. However, Ayaka/Misaki performed consistently when they took the lead. Entering the second game, the Japanese continued to lead while Greysia/Nitya committed several unforced errors.
Ayaka said that their opponents were not as aggressive as they were in their previous encounter.
“They pilfered a lot and intercepted the ball in front. They were different this time,” said Ayaka.
