TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said the police had released Muhammad Arsyad, a satay vendor who defamed President Joko Widodo online.

The investigation into the case, however, will continue with Arsyad as suspect. "The police will continue the investigation although he has been released from police custody," he said.

Boy said Arsad's mother and his lawyer were the one bailing him out from prison. He also dismissed rumors House deputy speaker Fadli Zon had intervene in the case, which resulted in Arsad's release.

"He was bailed out under the law, and there were neither pressure nor instruction from President Joko Widodo, because the postponement of his detention was also regulated by the law," he said on Mondah, November 3, 2014.

Muhammad Arsyad was arrested on October 23 for posting doctored pornographic images with the faces of Jokowi and Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Arsyad is charged with the law on anti-pornographt with a maximum penalty of 12 years' imprisonment.
