TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Budi Karya Sumadi, the president director of city-owned property developer PT Jakarta Propertindo, said his company was set to build an international race circuit in Tegal Alur, Kalideres, West Jakarta.
Budi estimated the project would cost billions of rupiah. “It could be Rp200 billion or more, probably using the regional budget (APBD),” he told Tempo on Tuesday, September 9, 2014.
Earlier, the Jakarta administration said it planned on constructing a race circuit in Tegal Alur, Kalideres, West Jakarta that would become the capital’s automotive hub.
The Jakarta Sports and Youth Agency, the Indonesian Motorsports Association (IMI) and PT Jakarta Propertindo are currently in talks on the project.
Budi said the Kalideres circuit, which will be built on a 65-hectare land plot, would meet the minimum width requirement for a circuit to host world-class race championships such as Formula 1 and Moto GP.
