TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Korindo Motors (Korindo)the sole authorized agent for Yutong buses used by TransJakartahas yet to show its intent to replace the unit that was destroyed by fire in an incident last week.

“We’ll have to look into it as the warranty only applies to the engine,” said Chen Chong Kyeon, the executive director of Korindo on Tuesday, 2 September 2014.

Previously, TransJakarta’s chief of services Pargaulan Butarbutar has said that the burnt bus is still covered by the warranty. “The fire is covered by Korindo’s warranty, as the warranty won’t expire until January 2015,” said Pargaulan last week.

He said that under the warranty the Chinese company was obliged to cover any mechanical faults for a year, starting from the date that the units went into service, which was on 15 January 2014.

Thirty TransJakarta buses are covered by Korindo’s warranty. Immediately after the incident, TransJakarta authorities have asked Korindo to inspect all Yutong buses in its fleet.

To date, TransJakarta has not yet spoken about its plan to ask Korindo for a replacement unit for the burnt-out bus.
