TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency Muhammad Akbar has said that he plans to block Uber app, and that he is currently processing the warrant to the Ministry of Communication and IT. "We will deliver the letter this week," said Akbar.
Akbar added that Uber app actually has a good system for applying no cash and zero kilometer method. The later one means that the taxi does not have to run when there is no passengers, causing lesser traffic. Regardless, Uber has no operational permit.
In order to block Uber App, the agency has established coordination with Ground Transportation Organization (Organda) and the Ministry. Emanuel also suggests Organda to prevent its members from joining Uber, given that Uber’s units are reportedly from car rental. "The problem is that the passengers are paying to Uber, not the owner,” he said. “We will arrest them, but we cannot rush as they use private cars."
