TEMPO.CO , Ballerup - The only Indonesian representative at the BWF World Championships Tommy Sugiarto has to wait longer to be the world champion as he stumbled in Copenhagen semifinal. Tommy was defeated by second seeded Chen Long of China 21-16, 22-20 at the Ballerup Super Arena, Ballerup, Denmark yesterday.
Tommy started the match calmly and managed to counter-balance Chen Long 9-9 before he lost the first game 21-16. The Indonesian even led early in the second game 17-16 until he slipped when launching a backhand lob.
Chen raced to equalize the position after the game resumed and proved that he is still too strong for Tommy. Chen ended the game with victory to claim his final ticket against Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia.
