Indonesia Wins Two Titles in Taipei Open

TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Indonesia brought two champion titles home in the 2014 Chinese Taipei Open Grand Prix Gold. Hendra Aprida Gunawan/ Andrei Adistia claimed the title for the men’s double category while Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishninda won the women’s double category.
“The victory is a new progress for Indonesian women’s double sector. The title become the source of confident for Greysia/Nitya, as well as prove that they are among the world elite,” said Chairman of Indonesian Badminton Federation (PP PBSI) Gita Wirjawan regarding the achievement.
Greysia/Nitya surprised the badminton enthusiasts by winning over one of the world best double Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang of China 21-18 21-11. The victory becomes the Indonesian second winning over the Chinese after their last encounter in French Open Super Series 2013. Head to head record between the doubles is now balance 2-2.
Hendra/Andrei joined the first place after defeating China’s Junhui Li/Liu Yuchen 21-14 16-21-21-16.
