TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry expected that the Soekarno-Hatta airport commuter train can begin operating on July 2015. A 12-km double track from Batuceper Station in Tangerang to Soekarno-Hatta airport is currently under construction.
"We have finished the Duri-Tangerang double track construction while the 12-km Batuceper-Soekarno Hatta double track will be built by [state-owned train company] KAI," said Hermanto Dwiatmoko, director general of railway of the Transportation Ministry on Thursday, July 10, 2014.
KAI director Ignasius Jonan, said that the Soekarno-Hatta commuter project depends on the progress of land acquisition process in Tangerang, Banten, which remains as one of the major obstacle of the project. "There's no target for land procurement. Just as soon as possible, depending on the lands," said Jonan.
