TEMPO.CO, Sydney - Indonesia's Simon Santoso has booked his final ticket after overcoming fellow Indonesian, Tommy Sugiarto 21-16, 21-13 in the Australian Open semifinal yesterday. The 2014 Singapore Open champion is set to play against the former world No. 1 Lin Dan of China later today.
Simon was untroubled in defeating Tommy at the semifinal although his opponent led in the early game. After patiently looking for his chances, Simon released strong shots towards the right side of the court where Tommy missed. Simon has finally confirmed victory over the higher-ranked Tommy through a strong shot toward his left side.
Lin Dan, who seems to be coming back from his downturn, managed to advance to his first BWF World Superseries final in over two years after struggling past compatriot Tian Houwei, 21-19, 23-21. Statistic shows Lind Dan-Simon head-to-head record being 10-1.
