TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Mini Management has positively welcomed the Jakarta Transportation Agency’s step to give opportunities to Metro Mini drivers to work as TransJakarta bus drivers.
Metro Mini’s Director for Development, Herlambang, said the measure would improve work system and culture of drivers. "For me, this is very good, and don’t make it into an issue," he told Tempo, yesterday.
"This means, there are opportunities for Metro Mini drivers to work in a more appropriate system," he said. He admitted the company drivers' work system was not "scheduled' all along. Their break patterns are also based on the amount of money earned.
Herlambang is confident the recruitment of Metro Mini drivers to drive TransJakarta buses will bring worthiness and welfare to the drivers. "With that, they will also become more orderly."
According to him, there are currently approximately 6,000 Metro Mini drivers. However, he was not sure how much percentage of irresponsible drivers and eligible to drive TransJakarta bus.
"Whether they are eligible will depend on when they (drivers) take the tests to become TransJakarta drivers," he said.
