TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government, the Land Transportation Organization (Organda), and other stakeholders have agreed to increase transportation tariff in ports and terminals by 15 percent. The tariff increase was approved following the implementation of subsidized fuel price hike plan on Saturday, June 22.
"We've discussed the 15-percent raise," said Transportation Minister Ever Ernest Mangindaan at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, June 24. Mangindaan said he has also signed the ministerial decree concerning the 15-percent tariff hike. "It's effective Sunday [June 23]," said the minister.
The means of transportation affected by the tariff increase included intercity and inter-province transportation, and river transportation. Mangindaan expects the regulation to be applied in the regions. "It will depend on the regional heads who will bring the matter up for discussion with their respective regions."
