TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) highlighted the procurement of curtains for the official residences of members of the House of Representatives (DPR). The KPK underlined that the tender process must be carried out in a transparent and accountable fashion.

“KPK urges all stages in the procurement process to be carried out in a transparent and accountable manner in order to prevent certain parties from taking personal advantages of it that violate the law,” said acting KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri in a written statement, Monday, May 9, 2022.

According to him, the process of procuring goods and services must refer to the Presidential Regulation No. 12/2021 concerning the procurement of government goods/services.

“The KPA (Proxy of Budget User) and PPK (Commitment Making Officer) must ensure that the entire process is in accordance with the procedures, considering that the procurement of goods and services is prone to corruption practices,” Ali said.

He underlined that the principles of transparency and accountability are a form of accountability for the use of the State Budget or Regional Budget (APBN/APBD) by each ministry, regional government, SOEs or ROEs, and other institutions managing state finances.

KPK also appealed to the public to participate in overseeing the management of state finances.

“People can file a report to the KPK if there is alleged corruption with valid initial information via email to pengaduan@kpk.go.id or Call Center 198,” Ali said.

The DPR’s curtain replacement program has stolen the public limelight since the beginning for its irrationally large budget of Rp48.7 billion. Despite mass criticism, the project was still running.

DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad claimed that the House Secretary General had approved the budget. The tender auction project was also suspicious as the winner was announced to be an information technology (IT) firm PT Bertiga Mitra Solusi which offered the highest bid of Rp43.5 billion.
