Tommy Winata`s Support for Jokowi will be Legal: Campaign Team

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The deputy secretary of the Jokowi-Ma`ruf Amin campaign team, Verry Surya Hendrawan, said he has not received any details of the support that will be provided by businessman Tomy Winata for the presidential and vice presidential hopefuls.
However, Verry said that there will be regulations from the General Elections Committee (KPU) that the campaign team must adhere to if the known businessman eventually financially supports Jokowi’s campaign.
KPU regulation (PKPU) No. 24/2108 mandates that campaign funds from individuals for presidential candidates are limited to Rp2.5 billion, while corporate funds are capped at Rp25 billion.
“The campaign team will follow existing regulations and everything will be included in a special bank account for the presidential campaign (RKDK) which will undergo routine audit and report,” said Verry to Tempo on November 26.
He maintains that the Jokowi campaign team highly values the transparency of campaign funds.
Previously, Verry confirmed the support of Tommy Winata for the incumbent presidential candidate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in the 2019 presidential election after a photo of the businessman wearing Jokowi’s campaign shirt circulated on the internet Sunday, November 25.
