Police Threaten to Disperse International Caliphate Meeting

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor Police Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Andy M. Dicky asserts that police will not hesitate to take repressive measures if the committee of international caliphate event persists on holding the event in Sentul, Bogor on Saturday, November 17.
“The event does not have permit from the police, we will disperse them if the event is held,” said Andy M. Dicky on Tuesday, November 13. This event sparked rejections from local Islamic and public mass organizations.
Dicky further called on the people to ignore the open invitation that has spread among the members of the public and avoid sharing it to others. “Do not attend the event because it does not have any permit,” he maintained.
He revealed that the police has prepared several strategies to secure the location of the event to anticipate any form of resistance from the event’s sympathizers.
The international caliphate meeting is planned to be held at Sentul, Bogor, in West Java on Saturday, November 17. The event that is themed ”Indonesia, the starting point of the world’s Islamic caliphate” is said to be attended by thousands of participants from numerous countries.
