Prabowo emphasized that what happened to Sarumpaet was very intolerable because violence in any form could not be justified in a democratic country.
"For me, this is an act that has gone too far. Even though Ratna Sarumpaet is resigned to her fate, we are going to question it [to the police chief]," Prabowo said.
Previously, outspoken antigovernment activist Ratna Sarumpaet reportedly suffered injuries to her face after being assaulted in Bandung, West Java.
Pictures purportedly featuring swollen eyes and bruising to her face spread on social media on Tuesday.
“Yes, we received information that she was attacked in a car when she arrived at the airport in Bandung, West Java,” said Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, a spokesman of the campaign team endorsing presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Sandiaga Uno.
