Lombok Earthquake, 543 Mt. Rinjani Hikers Successfully Evacuated

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - 543 hikers were successfully evacuated from Mount Rinjani by a joint force operation on Monday afternoon, July 30, following the earthquake that hit Lombok the day before.
The joint evacuation team comprised of members from the national search and rescue agency (Basarnas), Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), National Police, and the Mount Rinjani National Park Office, medical team, and volunteers.
The hikers that were evacuated comprised of 189 foreign nationals, 173 domestic hikers, 31 guides, and 150 porters.
“All of the survivors were evacuated in good health,” said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman today.
Up until Tuesday morning, there were still six people and one deceased body of Muhammad Ainul Muksin from Makassar currently still at Mount Rinjani. The six people that comprised of three National Procurement Agency's [LKPP] members, two porters, and a guide are now already evacuated.
Makassar resident Muhammaf Ainul Muksin unfortunately died after being struck by the landslide materials that happened at Mount Rinjani following the Lombok earthquake.
