TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the odd-even policy expansion of vehicle numbers in some areas in Jakarta is done to succeed the implementation of 2018 Asian Games.

"I want to underline everything, that this is done in order to succeed Indonesia as a host of Asian Games," Anies said in Central Jakarta, Monday.

He expects the whole society to see this odd-even policy as an attempt to make the guests, athletes, journalists and officials from all over the world who come to feel a better Jakarta.

"There is a hassle, because we are the host, as the host indeed there is work, there is an extra hassle," said Anies.

Currently, he added, monitoring is still being done by the team that is ready in the field to see the development of this trial as well as for the people affected by the odd-even policy.

"This is also we will hear the experience and aspirations of people affected by the odd-even policy," said Governor Anies.

He hopes people understand as well as an input from the community.

"So we, as a host, of course, there will be extra work including arranging vehicles with neighbors, with colleagues, looking for a public vehicle is not something simple, I realize it, but I ask for understanding and please be advised," said Anies.

Jakarta administration together with Jakarta Traffic Police and Great Jakarta Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) will expand the area of odd-even traffic restrictions during the 2018 Asian Games.

This is in order to succeed the implementation of the 2018 Asian Games, as well as to determine the target time of athlete travel from athlete's guesthouse to the required venue.

The odd-even policy expansion trials began on 2-31 July. As for the enactment of odd-even expansions began on 1 August.
