5.9 Richter-Scale Earthquake Shakes Mentawai Islands This Morning

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -5.9 magnitude tectonic earthquake shook the Indian Ocean or 105 kilometers in the southwest of the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra, at 06:08 am, Wednesday, June 13.
“No tsunami potential,“ a spokesman for the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Harry Djatmiko delivered it through his written statement.
Harry said the depth of the earthquake was about 41 kilometers. It occurred at the coordinates of 2,06 South Latitude, 98.61 East Longitude.
Tuesday, June 12, an earthquake at 11:46 pm also occurred. The magnitude of the 5,5-magnitude earthquake shook in the 72 kilometers southwest of the Mentawai Islands. It also has no potential tsunami.
BMKG urges people in Mentawai to remain calm, not panic, and not be affected by issues that are not true about the earthquake.
