TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cyber Indonesia Secretary General Jack Lapian assessed that it is too early for Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) to submit a judicial review regarding his blasphemy case.
“That may be what caused the Supreme Court judges to reject Ahok’s judicial review,” said Jack Lapian today, March 27.
Not only that, Jack argued that Ahok’s judicial review should have waited for the verdict of Buni Yani as the person who edited the video of Ahok’s speech that incriminated the former Jakarta Governor in the blasphemy case.
“They should have waited for Buni Yani’s verdict to be legally binding,” said Jack.

Supreme Court’s spokesman Abdullah said that the decision was already made yesterday on Monday, March 26, by a panel of judges that consist of Artidjo Alkostar, Salman Luthan, and Sumardjiatmo.
Abdullah has not provided any explanation why Ahok’s judicial review was rejected. He maintained that they would need to complete the files before announcing it.
Ahok's judicial review was accepted by the court on March 7 and was sent to the court examiner board on March 13. The Supreme Court appointed Judge Artidjo Alkostar as the leader of the panel of judges to handle the case.
Ahok’s legal attorney initially filed a judicial review on the verdict of the blasphemy case. Ahok was found to be guilty of blasphemy based on the speech he gave at the Thousand Islands.
