TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta government stated that they will manage roads and sidewalks along Jl. Sudirman and Jl. MH Thamrin to make Jakarta a pedestrian-friendly city. The efforts were done to welcome the Asian Games.
"The city administration is going to manage the roads and sidewalks along Jl. Sudirman and Jl. MH Thamrin to welcome the Asian Games," Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said, during the dissemination of new road management on Tuesday.

He lauded the dissemination of the new road management as sidewalks support the provision of traffic and transport.
It is mentioned in Article 45 paragraph (1) of Law Number 22 Year 2009 on Road Traffic.
"The management includes lanes for Transjakarta buses, four-wheeled vehicles, motorcycles, regular buses or tourist buses, sidewalks, trees, and parks," the governor remarked.

"The sidewalks along Jl. Sudirman and Jl. MH Thamrin will be designed like a walk of fame featuring athletes with major achievements," he stated.
Furthermore, the athletes can also interact with pedestrians at certain times, adding that the city administration would arrange the time for interaction.
