Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency reported, of 1,471 fire incident during 2017 and 927 of them caused by the electrical disruption.
Governor Anies Baswedan mentioned three important things related to fire prevention from electrical disruption. "First, we have to gain awareness and understanding about the electricity and cable cords management," said the governor at the 99th anniversary of Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency, Thursday, March 1.

The next important thing as to prevent fire incident, Anies went on, is to not overload the electrical outlets and manage water infrastructure to avoid short circuit. "Actually, many things can be applied to prevent electrical disruption," he stated.
Based on Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency data or Jakarta Damkar Agency, the gas explosion is the second most common cause in 185 cases of fire, other causes are trash burning in 124 cases, smoking materials in 34 cases, candles in 5 cases and other causes in 196 cases.
During 2017, fire fatalities hit Jakarta in the areas of 885,548 square meters, lead to 71 people died, and had losses up to Rp475.2 billion or nearly half a trillion rupiah.
