Asian Games 2018: LRT Towards Jakabaring Sports Center being Set

Sumatra Alex Noerdin is very optimistic and claims that his region is ready for the Asian Games 2018. The sports arena in Jakabaring and the supporting infrastructure are ready.
"Two Musi Bridges will be completed in June, and LRT (light rail transit) in this month but still need for the conditioning, signal experiment, and others," said the South Sumatra Governor in Palembang, Wednesday, February 14.
He said that South Sumatra has experienced in national and international sports activities, such as PON 2004, SEA Games 2011, Islamic Youth Solidarity 2013, and the Asian Games 2018.
For visitors from other city or abroad, Jakabaring can be reached from Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport, about 22 kilometers away, by motorcycle or car for about an hour, especially during rush hours.
"But later we can use LRT from the station in the airport and stop at Jakabaring Station," Alex said.
The LRT will start operating in June and Alex said that the South Sumatra provincial government still discusses the tariff with related parties.
In Jakabaring Sports Center area, from one arena to the other can be reached by foot for 10 to 20 minutes.

Jakabaring is originally a swamp area. Jakabaring is built for the XVI National Sports Week 2004 and the facilities were added during the SEA Games 2011 period.
In the Jakabaring Sports Center, there is Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium as the headquarters of Sriwijaya Football Club, tennis court, athletic stadium, badminton stadium, gymnastics, baseball arena, shooting arena, water skiing, beach volley court, wall climbing arena, rollerblading court, petanque arena, bowling alley, and Jakabaring international circuit which its development still in process.
