TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bribery defendant in the electronic identity card (e-KTP) procurement, Setya Novanto, will undergo a follow-up trial at the Corruption Crime Court in Jakarta, Thursday, February 8. Today's trial today will be to hear the testimonies of witnesses from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutor.
In the last trial on Monday, February 5, Judge Yanto said that today's trial will be to hear the testimonies of "witnesses who are not present on Monday, as well as other witnesses".

The prosecutor will bring to court a number of witnesses including former members of the House of Representatives (DPR), and people that have been convicted guilty in the e-KTP bribery case. Among the witnesses are former Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi and convicts Irman and Sugiharto.
Setya is indicted of enriching himself during the e-KTP procurement project, in which he allegedly received bribes worth US$7.3 million. He is charged with violating articles 2 and 3 of Law no.31 on Corruption.
Setya is now appealing to become a justice collaborator, which would require him to plead guilty and willing to reveal the involvements of other actors. The justice collaborator should not be the main actor in the case being prosecuted.
If his appeal is granted, Setya Novanto might get a lighter sentence, and may receive reduced prison term as well as other special rights as a convict.
