TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government revealed that as of Saturday, January 27, about 168 million people had re-registered their mobile phone SIM cards.
Communications and Information Ministry spokesman Noor Ihza said that the number is continually rising and is predicted to reach the ministry’s initial goal by the end of February. The ministry warned that people who fail to re-register will have their mobile SIM number blocked.

“As of Saturday, January 27, at 12:00 PM, there were more than 168 million people who have re-registered their prepaid SIM cards. We are optimistic that this program will reach its target,” said Noor on Monday, January 29.
Noor Ihza called on the public to re-register their prepaid SIM cards with their Family Card (KK) number and identity Card Number (NIK).
“People must soon re-register their prepaid SIMs card to avoid their number getting into trouble in the future. We continue to inform the public about this requirement,” said Noor Ihza.
