130 Million Prepaid SIM Card Numbers Registered: Comm. Ministry

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communications and Information Ministry stated on Sunday (31/12) that 130 numbers of prepaid SIM cards both new and those needing re-registration have been registered and been integrated with their citizenship identity number (NIK) until December 31 at 11 a.m.
Cellular card number registration program integrated with citizenship identity number (NIK) and family card number (KK) is regulated by Ministerial Decree No. 21/2017 on the second change of Ministerial Decree No. 12/2016 on telecommunication service user registration of immediate effect since October 31 2017.
Reregistration is carried out to provide security to telecommunication service users and the Ministry guarantees the security of the users.
Furthermore, the Ministry urged mobile phone users to register their number before the due date by the end of February 2018, so that the card will not be blocked.
Dissemination has been done in a number of ways including by broadcasting, running text on television and text message from the Ministry to users mediated by cellular operators.
The Ministry also uses social media collaborating with related institutions, operators, stakeholders and the people.
