Uniqueness of The Primitive Village Tourism in Banyuwangi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of new tourist destinations appeared in the District of Banyuwangi, East Java. In line with the high interest of tourists that visiting the district which is located on the eastern tip of Java Island.

The citizens of Krajan Hamlet, Purwodadi Village, District Gambiran, which turns a region into a tourist destination, the Primitive Village (Kampung Primitif).

‘Primitif’ is an abbreviation of the word "prima" and "innovative". The idea came from the young people of Purwodadi Village. Chairman of Sadar Wisata (Tourism Aware) Group Sidodadi Village Subandi Winoto said that youth in the village have talent in gardening and creative idea so that to express both, they made a village that is identical with inland or prehistoric life.

"The idea of early Primitive Village was born from the creativity of the youth so that the Primitive Village is a container and space of expression for us to develop the natural potential in the village of Purwodadi," he said.

In this location, there are Nusantara cultures with various trinkets nuanced primitive life. Like a roundhouse with wooden walls thatched roof and a number of chairs made of wood.

To go to Primitive Village tourist area is not difficult because the location is not far from the Office of Purwodadi Village. When entering the area, visitors are required to entrust their vehicles at the location provided.

Tourists must walk a few meters at the edge of the Talang River. The atmosphere of Primitive Village is still natural because of its location in the middle of the garden with an area of about 1 hectare.

Upon entering the tourist attraction, tourists will be greeted by the dances of children and youth wearing primitive make-up, such as Dayak tribe that is still found in a number of inland areas of Borneo.

The sound of a waterwheel in the vicinity of the location seemed to greet every tourist who came, even some visitors choose to sit around while enjoying the nature under the shade of large trees with a very cool air.

Some residents and children who dress up inland tribes also perform a number of activities of primitive societies, such as cooking using firewood and playing in the river to find fish.

By wearing a Dayak tribe dress and face drawn in accordance with the custom of the tribe of the interior and coupled with headgear and koteka accessories seemed to make tourists are in a very primitive inland area.

Primitive Kampung Tourism is equipped with tour plans so that tourists can enjoy the rides and get around as much as the natural beauty makes the atmosphere cooler and feel at home for long there.

In Kampung Primitif there is also a river with the wood for the residents' playground. Tourists also do not attract admission to tourists who visit Primitive Village. But usually, tourists give money at their will for the development of tourism objects managed by the community of Purwodadi Village.

Although not officially opened, new tourist destinations are crowded by tourists from various cities, especially on holiday weekend, Saturday-Sunday. One of the tourists, Rini Puspita, admitted that she is happy because during the time she saw the indigenous tribes inland only on the television screen.

Initially, she and her husband and her two children are curious about the social media conversation, the rumors about this village. So she scheduled to Primitive Village on weekend. At the tourist spot, she educated her children about the life of indigenous tribesmen who appreciate the environment and nature.
