TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi attended a questioning scheduled by the KPK today, Nov. 8, in the electronic ID card (e-KTP) graft case. He admitted that he was questioned as a witness for PT Quadra Solutions CEO Anang Sugiana Sugijardjo and House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Setya Novanto.
Gamawan revealed that he was probed only by a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator for 40 minutes. “I said I didn’t know Anang, and I have never spoken to Setya,” he told Tempo in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 8.
He confirmed that the summons letter addressed to him mentions Setya Novanto. Gamawan revealed that the investigator confirmed Setya Novanto’s suspect naming.
The KPK has named a new suspect in the e-KTP graft case that caused Rp2.3 trillion in state losses. Earlier, a letter ordering to start an investigation into Setya went viral. The letter was signed by KPK investigation director Aris Budiman on October 31.
KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah yesterday did not deny the existence of the letter. According to Febri, there’s only one copy of such a letter issued by the KPK. In response to a question about the circulation of the letter, he refused to mention the source.
Gamawan was earlier mentioned in the indictment of e-KTP graft convicts Irman and Sugiharto to have received Rp50 million. However, the former Home Affairs Minister denied the allegation during trials for Irman and Sugiharto.
