TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian hopes that the newly formed Anti-corruption Special Detachment (Densus) will synergize with the Attorney General’s Office.
“Because the Attorney General conducts the prosecution,” said Tito at the National Police Headquarter on Friday, October 13.

Tito has no problem with the fact that the police institution and attorney general will be under a single chain of command. But he reveals the possibility that a special team could be formed to bridge both institutions when the investigation starts, “to avoid having a case going back and forth.”
National Police Deputy Chief General Commissioner Syafruddin said that forming an anti-corruption special detachment would strengthen attempts to eradicate corruption that is currently being done by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

“It will strengthen the movement to eradicate corruption and assist the KPK,” said Syafruddin on Tuesday, September 26.
Syafruddin hopes that the public will not perceive the formation of the anti-corruption special detachment as a move to compete with the KPK. The unit is set to be introduced by year’s end and will be effective in early 2018.
